Custom Helm Seat
The standard Grand Banks helm seat is not all that comfortable for long term cruising and in some cases not really high enough to adequately see over the front of the dash to the area below. We had several goals in putting together the seat.
- Add extra height to the steering station
- Add comfort for long term cruising
- Make the seat wide enough to hold two people
- Make the seat slide back far enough for the driver to stand and steer when desired
- Make the seat look as close to OEM as possible
There are only a few hurdles in this project. The first is that there is camber to the decks on the flybridge. We solved that problem by building a level base inside the old seat locker. We also built enough high quality foam into the seat to make it comfortable. Fortunately we have a source for the right hardware to make all this happen.
