The JN32 or Newman 32 hull is a highly successful fishing and lobster boat hull which has also mad a successful picnic boat and cruiser since the early 1970's. Created by Jarvis Newman, the hulls are now hand built by Mack Pettigrew in Southwest Harbor, ME. Lately Mack has introduced modern construction materials in his hulls
Oxford is very fortunate to have such a distinguished part time resident as Jarvis Newman. Over the past few years, Jarvis has taken the time to teach us at OYA many of his concepts and details incorporated in his 32, 36, 38 and 46' lobster boat designs and hullls as well as sharing lots of photos, books, his friendship and the expertise of Eliot Spaulding of Freeport, ME.
So it is a collaborative effort that has resulted in what we at OYA call the JN32.
This boat is intended to be a fuel efficient 15+ knot cruisier as well as the most comfortable quiet cruiser at displacement speeds. Above all, is her hertitage as an able seakindly platform for her occupants that attracts experienced cruisers. The boat has three areas which are equally balanced in floor space, function, comfort and finish. The cockpit is spacious, has superb picnic seat with lockers under and a wonderful teak sole.
