Bristol Skiff

Lapstrake hulls and wood trim combined with graceful lines evoke images of a bygone era.

The Bristol Skiff 17 is lapstrake, and trimmed in mahogany. Their good looks, versatility and exceptional performance attest to their traditional heritage. With deep, twin skegs and widely flared hull, this classic design has excellent stability and maneuverability. The raised bow keeps passengers dry in chop and spray. Ample seating and a large open work area make this the perfect boat for fishing, tending pots or taking the family for an island picnic. Three large storage lockers are standard. An optional center console is available with a 15" destroyer wheel, which makes these skiffs perfect for serving as the club launch or work boat for marine tradesmen.

This is the perfect boat for fishing, tending pots or taking the family for an island picnicHolby skiffs are built using the SCRIMP process, providing the highest quality composite construction in the industry. Each hull is vacuum bagged and infused with resin, ensuring that each boat is built with the highest resin-to-glass ratio in an environmentally safe manner. All hull laminates are designed for optimum strength and weight. A beautiful finish is provided by an ISO-NPG gel-coat, specifically formulated for the rigors of the marine environment. Each seat compartment is filled to capacity with positive foam flotation, and satisfies USCG flotation standards. Each skiff is backed by a full two-year factory warranty for years of enjoyment.

The Bristol Skiff is now available with Mercury engines pre rigged right to your dealer. The Mercury 4 stroke and Opti Max engines meet 2006 EPA requirements. Twenty five years ago Mercury had a problem with salt water corrosion with the aluminum in their engines. This hurt their reputation as a quality engine. Since then they now smelt their own aluminum. They use an aluminum-silicon alloy that has a low copper content. This means less corrosion and provides the best corrosion resistance in the industry. If you live near salt water you will find their Mercury engine to be the longest lasting and most durable of any engine on the market. In addition the engine is painted in parts then put together. Other engine manufactures paint the engine after the whole engine is assembled leaving bare metal parts should water ever intrude. Additionally you will like the freshwater flushing capability of the engine for easy maintenance and longer engine life. The Mercury engines of today are more fuel efficient and deliver more power then any other brand, including Honda. In fact a Mercury 135 is 14% more fuel efficient then a Honda, accelerates from 0 to 20 mph 77% quicker, is 13% lighter, has an actual prop shaft power that is 15% higher and has a greater cruising range by over 24%.
