What if my vessel is documented and I plan to use it in Maryland?
You must provide proof that you have paid tax in Maryland or in a state with which Maryland has reciprocity. If not, tax equal to 5% of the fair market value of the vessel is due, and you must apply for and display use decals. The decals are $10 and are valid for the calendar year in which they are issued plus the subsequent calendar year. Commercial vessels are not required to obtain the use decals, however excise tax must be paid.
