 | This engine has a cast iron exhaust elbow which is an off the shelf Volvo part. The ribbed hose is the water injection point. Notice how close this injection point is to the turbo - nice feature! To maintain a stable working temperature in both the cylinders and combustion chambers, the engine is equipped with freshwater-cooled oil cooler and piston cooling. | |
| Immediately aft of and downstream from the cast iron exhaust elbow is a short piece of exhaust hose. This creates a vibration break before the fiberglass Centek elbow which directs the water to this large lift type muffler. This is a major noise reduction feature. |  | |
 | Another vibration reducing feature is the heavy duty engine mounts used in our Eastbay 40 installation. As you can see, this engine's nearly beltless and hoseless design minimizes maintenance and requires no custom exhaust parts, as do other engines of this caliber. | |
The fuel injection system has its foundation here. In the center of the photo is the fuel injection pump with the lift pump and fuel cooler mounted below.
