Caterpillar Marine Power Display
Marine Power Display is a monitoring system for electonically controlled Caterpillar marine engines. It provides current engine and transmission operating data. The screens can be customized to display different engine parameters using different user-defined sizes and types of gauges through computer software. One display is required for each engine. The display is a positive image monochrome LCD, fully graphic with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. DiagnosticsAll diagnostic messages from the engine's Electronic Control Module are supported by both a visual indicator and an audible alarm. With no active diagnosis codes, no DIAGNOSTIC indicator will appear in the upper left corner of the screen. When an active fault is detected, the DIAGNOSTIC indicator will appear in the upper left corner of the screen, a diagnostic code description window will appear in the center of the screen and an audible alarm will sound. The code indicator will remain on the screen until the fault is corrected. ConfigurationThe Marine Power Display can accomodate up to three users each with 5 user defined screens. The screens can be custom built to include the function deemed most important to each user. Each screen is designed with the CAT Marine Power Display Builder software and then uploaded via a link cable. ![]() The grid area is your blank screen. To add functions, you simply pick them off the menu bar and drag them onto any area of the grid. The area on the left now shows one display built. To make a different display, just click on the next blank. Note: The screen will only display custom functions which are programmed into the ECM. If a screen is built with non-supported functions, they will not display when the screen is activated. The available fuctions are:
Loading Customized Screens When the gauge screens for each user have been saved, they can be transferred to the Marine Power Display using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) service tool, version 3.1 or higher, and Communication Adapter II 1.1 software. A service tool harness must be fabricated to connect the service tool to the data link for transferring the screen files. This harness must also be connected to the engine service tool connector. Your CAT dealer can help you set this up. |
