The "Lou" has a new Flag Blue painted hull, fresh varnish, new aft enclosure with a freshly painted bottom and zincs all in 2010. This Eastbay 49 Hardtop. built by Grand Banks and designed in partnership with C. Raymond Hunt, this deep-V hull provides for superior performance, speed and safety. With twin 660 hp engines, an owner can expect a cruising speed of 20 KTS. and up to a top speed of 28 knots A quiet ride is also one of the benefits of an Eastbay fast cruiser, no matter what the speed.

Accommodations

Given its generous proportions, the Eastbay 49 Hardtop offers more room than others in its class. A luxuriously appointed main salon provides a comfortable area for dining, relaxing and entertaining. The master stateroom is located all the way forward and features a private head with stall shower. The two-berth guest stateroom is located to port with a full-size head to starboard. A very large helm deck and Grand Banks quality is present throughout. All interior joinery is done in satin finished teak and executed to the highest yachting standards. The Eastbay 49 is the flagship of the Eastbay family of solid cruisers.

Salon

Down from the helm deck and to starboard is the U-shaped dinette. The cushions cover a significant amount of dry storage. The teak yacht table at the settee has two flush openings for storage and the tops reverse to provide cup holders. The table is easily raised and fixed at any height assisted by a hydraulic piston. The dinette area is great for dining, entertaining, or relaxing.

Galley Equipment

Down to port from the bridge deck is the Galley. It is U-shaped and has complete Corian countertops. Two large holding plate refrigerators and one large holding plate freezer provide plenty of storage. Drawers and cabinets provide plentiful storage areas for dishes and food. The galley sole is teak and holly.

Master Stateroom

The extremely luxurious centerline island queen berth can be easily accessed from either side. Hanging lockers and drawers provide plenty of storage. There are additional storage cabinets on each side of the berth. An overhead hatch is for ventilation and lighting. Custom lighting includes halogen reading lamps, dimmer controlled overhead lights and floor lights. The owner?s private head features a large stall shower and fresh water Vacuflush head with tank tender system.

Guest Stateroom

The Guest Stateroom features twin berths athwartship, a hanging locker between the berths, drawers under each berth and a storage locker above each berth. Light and ventilation are provided through an overhead hatch and a vent as well as iIndividual reading lamps. The guest head is located across the passageway and is equipped with a fresh water Vacuflush head.

Steering Station

A very well laid out bridge deck area includes many Eastbay options. The helm chair is a Pompanette pedestal mount. Opposite to port is a double width helmseat, which has an icemaker built-in below. Forward on the dash area is a teak enclosed glass covered chart locker. Immediately aft and below the chart box are two large teak cabinets with bottle and tackle storage. Aft of the port navigator?s seat is an L-shaped settee with varnished teak yacht table. To starboard behind the helm seat is a large life jacket locker with seating on top. Further aft is a large line locker. The back of the hardtop is enclosed with NEW straglass with snaps. In bad weather, this enclosure provides a dry and comfortable ride. The side windows slide and the center windshield opens hydraulically for ventilation. In the center of the helm deck is a large engine room hatch with a hydraulic opening. Custom made teak rod holders store six large rods and reel on the hardtop ceiling over the settee and well out of the way. Four rod holders are found on the aft cockpit gunnel.

Deck and Hull Equipment

A large teak decked cockpit makes it suitable for fishing or nging. Stowing gear is easy with three spacious lazarettes. A large garage door leads directly into the engine room for easy inspection and maintenance. There is easy access to the foredeck by wide walk-around teak decks. The hull color is flag blue (NEW in 2010). An all stainless anchor roller supports a custom made polished stainless Italian 65-lb pgh anchor attached to 200' of chain. Two forward lazarettes hold a fresh water washdown, and a 50-lb spare anchor with 200? of rode and dock lines. Shorepower connections are made easy by the cablemaster power cord handler. New bottom paint WITH BARRIER COAT and zincs (2010), New black water hoses (2010), Fresh Varnish (2010) is equipped with an innovative hydraulic swim platform, which allows for the launching of a large RIB tender or Jet-Ski.

Remarks

"Lou" has a cruising speed of 20 kts. And at 17 kts. She has a range of more than 500 nm. Ample sound insulation and well-designed mains allow for normal conversational tones while cruising. The raised bridge deck provides seating for 12 comfortable out of the elements. The hydraulic windscreen makes regulating airflow though the cabin as simple as clicking a switch. Visibility is 360 degrees and docking and communicating with crew is easily handled from the helm. Remote windlass controls allow for single handed anchoring and a fresh water wash down keeps chain and anchor free of mud and grass. "Lou", was once owned BY Ted Turner Jr. She was fitted out by Oxford Yacht in Maryland and is one of the finest representations of the Eastbay 49 Express Cruisers.
