2001 46' Grand Banks Europa
1984 Bristol 45.5

The Bristol 45.5 has proven to be highly rated on the "comfort scale" for those desiring to sail coastally or offshore.

The Ted Hood magic was engaged to create this yacht that sails so well in the lower wind ranges, yet is solid in a blow. The keel centerboard also allows gunkholing in relatively shallow waters. The low engine hours reflect the light use she has so far received. Both the interior and exterior also show light use and excellent care. "Moon Shadow" has been carefully maintained and winter stored under cover at a premier Chesapeake Bay boatyard. Her current owners have treasured this boat for seventeen years and are only offering her for sale because they are making the switch to a power boat.

Accommodations
It is the luxury touches found throughout this boat that really make her stand out. From the richly varnished teak interior to the superbly crafted louvered cabinet doors, you'll see evidence of fine craftsmanship and loving care everywhere you look.

This center cockpit boat offers two large and private staterooms plus accomodations for two more in the main saloon. In the forward stateroom there is a large V-berth with insert and lockers outboard on both sides. A good sized hanging locker and other storage is also provided. This stateroom also has private access to the forward head. The head compartment is complete with sink, vanity, marine toilet and telephone type shower. More storage is found opposite. The main saloon features a dropleaf dining table just port of the centerline, with an L-shaped settee to port and a pair of barrel chairs to starboard. Shelves and lockers with lovely louvered doors are found outboard. Continuing aft to port, one passes the nav station and excellent engine access from the walk-thru to the aft stateroom. Again, notice the abundance of storage built in. The aft stateroom is large and wonderfully appointed. The berth is versatile; it can be used as a V-berth with a center dressing seat or use the insert to convert it to a huge athwartships double. The ensuite head compartment has a separate shower stall, along with the usual accoutrements. The headroom is great for taller sailors, and the fit and finish of the entire yacht will delight all who board her.

Comments
Bristol 45.5's are incredibly stiff and will stand up to their sail area in a blow. When measured for IMS they've had positive stability numbers as high as 126 degrees. You'll enjoy sailing this boat coastally as the current owner has, or begin planning your trans Atlantic journey, knowing all the while that you have a comfortable and capable yacht for the trip.
