2006 34' MJM 34z Downeast

With today's budget-conscious buyer, this 34' Downeast Style may be just the ticket. It provides a "Yacht Quality" appeal on a current economy budget. Her outward appearances say comfort and quality - from the Jarvis Newman styled deck layout to the low draft and bow and stern thrusters - which makes it perfect for local cruising with friends or on longer cruises. Below decks, it is a high volume yacht due primarily to the forward flush deck. With both heat and air conditioning, it is an "all weather" cruiser.

The real appeal, however, is the low maintenance and running costs. The repairable Awlcraft painted hull is a no-maintenance finish saving the costs of annual compounding and polishing. The single engine provides economical maintenance and lower running costs including the 2 mpg at speed.

As far as equipment and design, it will compare favorably to other boats of this ilk, such as the Eastbay 38. Last Time is worth your visit to inspect and compare for yourself.

Design & Construction

HULL

Modified deep-V, hull design with sharp entry and moderate beam having 2 lifting strakes, chine flats, 18 degree transom deadrise carried forward 11 feet, for stability and level acceleration. Prop pocket for shoal draft operation.

Exceptionally strong, lightweight, high-tech composite construction. Wet-pre-preg stitched biaxial E-glass/Kevlar outer skin with Gougeon slow-set epoxy which is then layered in the mold with 3/4" Corecell closed-cell foam core, and vacuum bagged at 14.7 psi to compress/bond the laminate and eliminate air prior to post-curing at 145F.

Solid E-glass/epoxy GRP centerline keel and chines with structural grid to minimize damage from grounding and to exceed 2004 draft CE Mark (ISO) structural standards for an Ocean Category A vessel.

Solid glass or high compression Penske-Board coring with rebated outer/inner skin bonding in way of thru-hull fittings or thru-bolted hardware.

Bilges finished with smooth easy-to-clean gloss white finish.
